Biography
Art Lounge international is delighted to be representing the works by established artist Chris Chapman. Chris's witty and humorous takes on the recreated masters have adorned the walls of many of our collectors in the Warwickshire area.
Chris Chapman is an an extremely accomplished artist with an eye for detail and effortless rendering skills. He has been enjoying a successful career as an illustrator after graduating from Leicester College of Art in 1979 where he studied graphic design. The viewer can immediately realise the graphic influences in the works with his intricate fine detailed clean brush work. The clinical approach leave no room for mistakes and one can appreciate the execution and finesse of the resulting end product.
He turned his focus from graphics and illustration to fine art in 2009 and his popular gallery series featuring depictions of famous paintings and artists sell out in selected galleries throughout the UK.
Art Lounge international has built a huge following in the Leamington and Warwickshire area, we just love the work.
The particular works after L.S Lowry are especially popular among our collectors and are full of wit and humour.
Chris enjoys the process of creating the jokes as much as executing the final paintings.
Recently he has been producing abstract paintings, mostly with acrylics but some with texture as well. The majority of these are made without using brushes and this coupled with the bold application of paint provides Chris with a much looser way of working in contrast to the high level of detailed brushwork he employs in the gallery more graphic illustration series. After spending the very early years of his career in London,he now lives and works in Bournemouth in Dorset. When not at work in his studio he can usually be found paddle boarding, windsurfing, mountain biking or walking his Border Collie on the beach.
